Bucs Walking Wounded

The Buccaneers held two practices at the Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex yesterday.  Once again, the weather was brutally hot with the heat index rising well above 100 degrees.  The Bucs are getting ready for Friday’s preseason opener at home against the Patriots.  Middle linebacker Barrett Rudd missed practice again with a bruised knee.  Offensive tackle Luke Petitgout missed practice again with an ailing back and won’t play Friday.  Fullback Mike Alstott sat out with body soreness and his status for Friday is unknown.  Wideout Michael Clayton was forced to leave the morning session early yesterday.  According to head coach Jon Gruden, Clayton has a pulled muscle in his leg and will be re-examined.  None of the injuries are considered serious.  Quarterback Chris Simms continues to struggle.  During yesterday’s morning session, Simms threw a number of wobbly passes and is now listed third on the QB depth chart.  The team has a walk-through session today.
