Garcia Speaks Out About Rumors of Favre Coming to Town

Garcia

There is one player that is not buying into the Brett Favre going to Tampa Bay hype – and that is current starting QB Jeff Garcia.  The veteran leader of the Bucs, and Pro Bowler from a season ago, spoke today for the first time about the rumors that continue to swirl that Favre will find his way to Tampa Bay – thus pushing Garcia to the bench, or possibly off the roster all together.

“I feel like I’m the starting quarterback here. I know I’m the starting quarterback here,” Garcia said, per PewterReport.com. “If that changes, they either ship me out because something else has come in, or if something else comes in, as much as the accolades are huge on that side, I’m the starting quarterback here and it’s going to be a battle. The best guy that can handle the position and help this team win should be the starting quarterback.”

Garcia, who has been voiceful about wanting a new deal, didn’t take part in the first few practices over the weekend as he was excused to attend a reunion.  Now that he’s back under center for the Bucs, look for him to play with a lot of fire with the rumors of Farve coming to town hanging over him and the team.
