Gruden Says Garcia Expected to Go Sunday vs Falcons

QB Jeff Garcia didn’t do much in practice today, but the vet is expected to go Sunday vs the Falcons according to coach Jon Gruden. “We’re hoping Jeff’s ready to go, and I’ll be optimistic on that.” Gruden said Friday.

Garcia did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a calf strain that he suffered earlier in the week. He also was hindered by a calf injury during the preseason, but Gruden said this strain is different.

“The guy’s a veteran player,” Gruden said. “We never like to see a guy not practice, particularly at that position, but he’s an experienced guy. He did take some reps yesterday and the day before, so he has participated to a degree. This is just a tough situation right now, but we’re hopeful he can play.”
