Bucs Make the Hiring of Morris and Dominik Official

It’s been a crazy 24 hours for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to say the least. First the team fires head coach Jon Gruden and GM Bruce Morris, and less than one day later have named defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their new head coach and Mark Dominik, who has been with the team since 1995, is taking over the role of general manager.

“Raheem can relate to today’s NFL player,” co-chairman Joel Glazer said. “The game has changed a lot. It’s always changing. … If you don’t adapt to those changes, you can’t compete.”

Morris is young at just 32 years old, and takes over a team that was on the verge of a playoff birth before losing back-to-back games to the Chargers and Raiders to end the year. They haven’t won a playing game since they won their only Super Bowl as a franchise in 2003. Now Morris is being counted on to get the team back to the promise land.

“We’ve been doing this for a long time. We just didn’t know it,” Morris said. “We’re going to make the decisions together. We, we, we. That’s how we do it.” Meaning that he and the 37-year-old Dominik will run the show together. It should be interesting to see ow the two work together.
