Albert Haynesworth Says the Release of Derrick Brooks Didn’t Help Bucs Cause

New Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth said today that one of the turn offs from coming to the Bucs was the fact that the team released linebacker Derrick Brooks.

“Yeah, it was a few things we looked at,” Haynesworth told Sporting News Radio. “You couldn’t really say that, but cutting a bunch of those guys and having a bunch of new starters didn’t help the situation any.

“I felt comfortable with Raheem. He seemed to be a good person and he’s going to be a good coach, and I thought they had a lot of upside. I guess they wanted to have that fresh new look and that’s what they went for. It didn’t really scare me off, but it didn’t really help the situation.”

Haynesworth signed a mega-deal with the Skins on Friday that could net him over $100 million.
