Derrick Ward has waited five seasons for the opportunity to be a featured back, something he had limited opportunities do behind Brandon Jacobs with the Giants. In Week 3, Ward will have his first opportunity to face his former team when the Bucs host the Giants.
The Bucs won their first six games at home last year, but that advantage looks to be diminished some this season. One of their home games will come against the Patriots at London’s Wembley Stadium in Week 7.
New coach Raheem Morris will emphasize finishing strong after an 0-4 close to the season derailed Tampa Bay’s playoff hopes last year. A regular-season finale at home against the Falcons could have playoff implications.
