Buccaneers Lineman are Learning Intricacies of Zone Blocking

“We are not consistent enough,” said offensive line coach Pete Mangurian. “I’m pleased at what they’re trying to do and they way they approached it. In their 27-20 preseason loss at the Tennessee Titans, Mangurian was happy that the unit did not commit any penalties.

Offensive guard Davin Joseph said backside blocking was the theme of the week for the offensive unit. “it’s hard to stimulate the speed of the game in practice,” Joseph said. “ No matter how hard you try, it’s hard to simulate the game. We put the pads on all the time, we’re banging and being physical but there are some things we don’t do in practice. We drill, but you can’t cut guys in practice.”
