The St. Petersburg Times says that the club is taking a ‘wait and see’ approach with the QB spot:
Bucs coach Raheem Morris is just trying to make sure he doesn’t choke on what is arguably the most important decision of his young coaching career. Had he made a call on the quarterback Monday, which he initially intended to do, he fears he might have.
“We could have forced it this week if we wanted to,” he said. “We could have but we didn’t have to. And there’s no need to. I mean, why force it? Let it play out. Let it happen.” The way it will happen Thursday is like this: Leftwich will start, just as he did last week against Jacksonville, but instead of playing just one quarter he will play the entire first quarter and about half of the second. McCown will follow Leftwich into the game and play the second half of the second quarter and the entire third quarter. Both will work primarily with first-teamers on offense and (Morris hopes) against mostly first-teamers on defense.
