Dexter Jackson Released

Last years second round draft pick Dexter Jackson has been released from the Bucs, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Tampa Bay has reached the 75-man roster limit early Monday morning by releasing the punt returner/wide receiver. The end of Jackson’s career with the Bucs is not surprising. After being drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft to be the return man on kicks and punts, he did not live up to his expectations.

His lack of production in the return game, eventually led to him being benched and then came the surfacing of Clifton Smith, whose positive production as a return man earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl.

While there is Clifton Smith and Sammie Stroughter that can return kicks and punts and Maurice Stovall, Brian Clark and Stroughter with positive production at receiver, there is really not any need for Jackson.
