Bucs home opener vs Browns to be blacked out

The Tribune reports that the opener vs the Browns will be blacked out:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers officials said they expect Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Cleveland Browns to be blacked out on local television. The game, scheduled for regional telecast at 1 p.m. on CBS, must be sold out 72 hours before kickoff for the blackout to be lifted. Local CBS affiliate WTSP, Channel 10, is scheduled to show the Miami Dolphins-Buffalo Bills game if the Bucs-Browns game is not available. Both of the Bucs’ preseason home games were blacked out live in the local market and shown on tape delay the following morning. No taped broadcast would be scheduled for regular-season games. The preseason game against Kansas City on Aug. 21 marked the first Tampa Bay home blackout since the Bucs moved into 65,000-seat Raymond James Stadium in 1998. The team announced a paid attendance of 41,386 for that game, and 42,640 for the Aug. 28 Jacksonville game.

  1. Die Hard Dolphins Fan says:

Thank You Bucs fans for looking worse than the transient community in the Ft. Lauderdale / Miami area. You have no idea how happy you just made all the Miami Dolphin fans who get our games blocked on Verizon in Sarasota cause the Sucs are playing a home game…. I almost feel like I owe some gratitude towards the Sucs but then again….NAWWWWW… Lets Go Phins

  2. Go PHins! says:

Looking forward to seeing more Dolphin games too. “YOU CAN’T PLAY LIKE THE BOTTOM 2% but ask the fans to pay the ticket prices of the top 2% of the teams. The Bucs are priced the same as Dallas and New York tickets. Go Dolphins and I may even go to a couple of games this year..DOLPHIN GAMES!

Go ahead and tell us if the attendance does not improve, you will have to move the team to another city. I can hear it already! & guess who gets stuck paying for the stadium for the next 20 years! Match some of the sponsors like Bud and Publix and give tickets to the troops and needy kids.
