Bucs 17, Browns 14

THE GOOD

Ronde Barber
While E.J. Biggers had huge passes defensed and hits, Ronde’s play single-handedly won the game for the Bucs. This Bucs offense was so out of sync, the concept of handing the ball back over to them for a long drive had to be disheartening for the defense. Ronde took matters into his own hands returning the ball into the red zone.

The Hitting
There was a strange series of plays in the third when Quincy Black made an uncalled pass interference, one of the few bad plays by the linebackers, followed by big tackles on the next two plays courtesy of Geno Hayes and Barrett Ruud. Guys were flying around and the Browns wanted nothing to do with Hayes and his tackling prowess.

The TD Catch By Mike Williams
By no means was this the best TD catch Mike Williams will have this season, but it was one of the most dazzling I’ve seen.

THE BAD

Josh Freeman’s Accuracy
Freeman responded well to his foibles, staying positive, keeping the huddle loose and continuing to throw with confidence. It also appeared one of his third down failures was the fault of a receiver running the wrong route. That said, Freeman was almost completely inaccurate and has to do better next week.

The Penalties
55 frustrating yards of penalties. They erased a lot more yardage on a Michael Spurlock return.

The Run Game
This was good at times but they didn’t adjust and try to get Cadillac Williams onto the perimeter enough, in either the rushing or receiving game. The run-blocking has to improve next week and I expect it will.

LOOKING AHEAD
A very ugly win with quite a few coaching blunders, a bad fumble from Cadillac, including the play-calling at the end of the game that gave the Browns another, albeit small, opportunity. This team will fight and claw and hopefully will continue the turnover-creating defense next week in Carolina against a struggling Matt Moore.
