Bucs ax punter Chris Bryan

The Buccaneers have released punter Chris Bryan, ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas reports. Tampa Bay signed Bryan, who averaged 38.6 yards per punt in a pre-season battle with Tim Masthay for the Green Bay Packers punting job, at the start of the season. Through four games, the Australian native posted a net average of 34.3 yards.

The Bucs used a sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft on punter Brent Bowden, who averaged 35.9 yards per punt during the pre-season. Bowden was one of three punters who worked out for the Bucs on Tuesday.
