Bucs Mid-Week Report

After missing three games with a knee injury, DT Ryan Sims – who started all 16 last year – has been cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rookie DT Al Woods, claimed off the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad, has played well in replacement and the Bucs are expected to make a move Wednesday to get to 53.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello has told Pro Football Talk that the NFL is looking into the independent test that was requested by Mike Williams and administered, “We did not know about it or agree to it. We are looking into it.”. Raheem Morris did mention, in typical Raheem effervescence, that the team was fining Williams.  “We’ll be able to fine Mike Williams; we’ll be able to take a bunch of money from his pocket,” he said Monday, “I’ll let him have the option of telling you what we’re going to allow him to give to this community, to (Bucs director of community relations) Miray Holmes, but I know she’s pretty excited about it.” He refused to answer the question on the amount Williams would be fined.

The Bucs have made the media rounds this week, including appearances for Morris (“Mike & Mike In the Morning”) and Kellen Winslow (“First Take”) on ESPN2 Tuesday. Winslow said he doesn’t want to play for any other coach as long as he plays.

Ray Lewis had essentially guaranteed his team would get to 9-3 when he texted Michael Irvin during an episode of “NFL Gameday Morning” where a few hosts lamented the failure of the Ravens defense.

Some say the Bucs won’t get any respect until they beat this team, the Saints or the Falcons but they can still go 10-6 if they lose all three.
