Strictly For The Geeks, Week 12

Stats:

The Ravens have forced 4 turnovers from the Bills, the most they’ve given in a game.

The Ravens have tied with the Jets for the most yards gained on the Dolphins this year, 402.

The Ravens held the Falcons to 60 net yards rushing, their second lowest total of the year. Atlanta ran for 58 against the Steelers.

The Ravens ran for the second most yards that the Broncos have allowed in any week, 233. The Raiders ran for 328.

The Ravens and Jets are the only teams the Patriots didn’t force turnovers on.

The Ravens defense gave Miami quarterbacks their worst QB rating in any game this season.

The Ravens defense held the Bengals to their lowest second passing total, 159 yards. Miami held them to 156.

The Ravens defense is the only defense to hold the Bengals out of the end zone.

Their defense has held two opponents to under 10 first downs.

Their defense has two AP Defensive Players of the Year – Ray Lewis in 2000 and 2003, Ed Reed in 2004 –  and may have a third in DT Haloti Ngata.

Nine different players have scored touchdowns for the Ravens – 4 receivers, a tight end, 2 running backs, 1 QB, a LB and a free safety.

If not for some strange late-game penalties and/or a terrible first half by Flacco, the Ravens would be undefeated against NFC opponents this year. They went 2-2 last season against the NFC, with one loss being due to a last-second missed field goal at Mall of America Field.  In 2008 with Flacco and John Harbaugh in their first years, Baltimore took 3 of 4 from the NFC East including 2 teams that went to the playoffs that year. They won all three of those by two scores or more.
