Bucs Have Rooting Interest Today; Michael Clayton Signs To A Wild Card Contender

Playoffs? Is it too soon to be talking playoffs?

If you are a Buccaneers fan and you are looking at the big picture, you have to look at the seasons of . That said, don’t be surprised when Green Bay comes in and knocks off the Falcons in Atlanta. When that happens, Tampa Bay will again have a shot at the division. As much as me and other people have made a point about Tampa Bay winning games against lesser opponents, the fact is that you have to take care of business. Beating the Carolinas and San Franciscos will have given them a chance to control their own destiny, once Green Bay beats the Falcons.

Predictions for today and their playoff implications:

The Lions will steal one on Thanksgiving. Shaun Hill will lead a couple of long drives and the Lions will finally be able to fully enjoy the holiday. This game will open the door for the Jets to control the East. Calvin Johnson looks to have a big day. Lions 28, Patriots 21.

The Cowboys, who beat the Saints last year, will defend their home turf for awhile until Drew Brees and the up-tempo Saints offense start to figure out what Dallas does defensively. Chris Ivory and Robert Meachum will have big games, same with Kitna and Roy Williams. This game could really help the Bucs in the Wild Card. Saints 42, Cowboys 35.

The Jets pretty much dominated both of this series last year. The Bengals’ defense is coming off a remarkable collapse Sunday with only three days to prepare. The Bengals have nothing to lose and lots of weapons to go against an under-achieving (missing Kris Jenkins) Jets defense. That said, if it’s a close game – which most Jets games are – and the more physical and healthy team (Palmer is hurt, Tank Johnson and Antwan Odom are out) wins, I gotta go with the Jets. The Jets have some games with good match-ups left. They want to keep pace with New England or in this case, move ahead. Jets 28, Bengals 27.

In other news, the Giants have spent the extra $150,000 to the UFL to get the rights to Michael Clayton. He and Devin Thomas are the new receivers signed after Hakeem Nicks was ruled out for the next three weeks. Hakeem Nicks is undoubtedly one of the ten best receivers in the NFL. He is sixth in receiving yards with 800, third with 16 catches of 20+ yards and tied at 3rd with 9 touchdowns.  And, he is a monster to take down.
