Banners of Players Taken Down from Raymond James Stadium

The St.Pete Times reports that the banners of players have been removed from Raymond James Stadium due to the lockout that started this last weekend.

Quarterback Josh Freeman had a banner year, but his image has been removed from Raymond James Stadium.

In fact, oversized pictures of eight Bucs players that draped the ballpark for the past year were ordered taken down by the team over the weekend.

Because of the NFL lockout, the league has discouraged teams from using the likeness of players for marketing purposes. Some of the enormous banners depicted players with the Bucs’ marketing slogan, “Unite and Conquer.”

That campaign is over and will eventually be replaced by a new slogan. It’s likely that the team will want to promote different stars, as well.
