Aqib Talib’s Lack of Future With The Bucs

Aqib Talib will be cut when the NFL lockout is over, according to Rick Stroud in a surprising piece at the St. Petersburg Times. I’m really shocked, only because police have yet to prove what they believe: that Talib fired a gun at Shannon Billings.

Just like Roger Goodell and members of the media, there is sometimes this rush to punish and scorn players for being at the wrong place or with the wrong people. I know Talib has a history of bad behavior, but I generally would hope that – if there were no lockout – that a team would support its player until proven guilty (and sometimes after that).

Also, the end of the article contains the shameful cliche about how difficult it is to win in back-to-back years. Come on, Rick. You don’t really believe teams were holding back or overlooking the Bucs last year?

  1. ace says:

we need a young corner who gets 40 tackles and 6picks a season to go with our crazy draft and now tough and possibly monsterious defensive line…if our 2 new DE and 2nd year DTs and new LB can get the pressure like expected now it will make our secondary better and with talib and baber and biggers and lewis and our good safty depth we will get alot of turnovers…Anthor thing is we need our proven vets like talib and most deff RUUD…we need to do our best to keep both.
