Bucs Fantasy Draft Prospects

Here is my guide to drafting Bucs in fantasy.

LeGarrette Blount, 126 points in 2010. Where he will be drafted: early 3rd. Where he should be drafted: late 2nd. He has incredible ability. I’ll still keep a close eye on their offensive line in training camp and preseason.

Mike Williams, 151 points in 2010. Where he will be drafted: middle of the 5th round. Where he should be drafted: first pick of the 4th. I think his TD numbers will go down as Benn, Briscoe and a 3rd down back emerge. His catches and yards will go up.

Josh Freeman, 246 points in 2010. Where he will be drafted: 6th-8th round. Where he should be drafted: late 6th. I really see the Bucs starting to use Josh to stretch the field, then use him to make throws on the perimeter in the red zone. His upside is a lot better than late 6th but I think the Bucs will get a lot of touchdowns running the ball.

Arrelious Benn, 46 points in 2010. Where he will be drafted: 13th-14th round or undrafted. Where he should be drafted: 7th round. He finished just outside my list of top 3 wide receiver sleeper picks. Unless Dez Briscoe gets some first team snaps in the preseason, Benn is going to have higher targets and better separation than he had in 2010.

Pay close attention to who ends up #2 on the RB depth chart. If it’s Graham or Allen Bradford, I expect them to get “closer” carries and some third-down targets out of the backfield. This offense is a lock to to score 420 real points, after getting 341 in its nucleus stage last year. Also, Kellen Winslow is my 8th-ranked tight end. Thus, if you want a Buc on your team and 12 or 13 tight ends have gone off the board in your draft (and this has happened), he’s exceptional value even if he’s not your favorite Buc. Finally, the Bucs have a defense that last year earned 114 fantasy points despite many key players missing 4-16 games with injury and suspension. The area they lacked the most in was sacks – just 26 – and now there are two new, highly-touted, high-motor rookie defensive ends with swagger. Kicker Conner Barth is undraftable.
