Ranking The Units: The Running Backs

Here I will reveal where I rank the Bucs’ projected 2011 personnel versus that of the rest of the NFL. Bear in mind, coaching is not being factored in and Raheem Morris is a supreme defensive mind.

Projected running backs:  LeGarrette Blount, Allen Bradford (rookie), Kareem Huggins, Earnest Graham (fullback), Erik Lorig (fullback). I think they will finally part ways with Cadillac Williams but would not be surprised to see him back with the Bucs down the road as his talents are multi-faceted and he has a great work ethic, attitude and story.

Ranked 9th.

2010 rankings: 4.6 ypc (6th), 2001 rushing yards (8th), 9 rushing TDs (24th). That last stat should go up as the offense matures as a unit.

Ranked ahead of the Bucs (in no particular order): Minnesota, Jacksonville, Tennessee, New York Jets, Houston, Oakland, Baltimore, New Orleans. Comparing New Orleans to Tampa Bay, Blount is a little more powerful and seems to have a bit more burst than Mark Ingram but there is no Tampa Bay running back as good at multi-tasking as Pierre Thomas is.
