Buccaneers 24, Colts 17

THE GOOD:

LeGarrette Blount
His runs in the fourth were the daggers and he was one of the few players that didn’t make mistakes that contributed to either a scoring drive on defense or a drive ending without a touchdown on offense. He finished with 127 yards rushing, 1 TD and a catch for 14 yards. The Bucs are 10-2 in games where Blount has at least 66 rushing yards. He’s run for at least 4.5 ypc 9 times since Oct. 24th, 2010. LeSean McCoy has 8 such games, Arian Foster 7.

THE BAD:

The penalties
There were 14 penalties for 106 yards on the big stage. The 49ers, who they play this Sunday, had only 5 for 40 last week.

THE UGLY:

The drops
This is worse than the penalties. The penalties sometimes set them back 5-15 yards while the drops almost always cost them a first down.

LOOKING AHEAD: Tampa Bay faces a 3-1 Niners team that is young, like them, and probably a lot more dynamic on offense than the team they shut out last season. Harbaugh’s college tactics and personality have been well-embraced with this bunch. This game could have playoff implications should these teams end the season with the same record.
