Bears 24, Buccaneers 18

THE GOOD

The secondary
They made big plays, even with Foster and Price – briefly – hurt. Jackson got his second pick in his second game back, then had to leave. Corey Lynch got his first pick, making him the 6th different Buc with an interception this season.

THE BAD
Aqib Talib’s fingers-in-the-helmet penalty
That play should have him benched for the first drive of the next game.

THE UGLY
Josh Freeman and the offense in general
The lack of short and outside passing game makes me wonder why they aren’t beating down the door to get Terrell Owens. Expectations have changed. This team ascended to the top of the NFC South this year, only to lose to an inferior Bears team. The injuries may be enough of an excuse to keep Greg Olson as OC for awhile. The offense just can’t keep looking so out-of-sync and lifeless for multiple drives at a time. If this passing game had found ways to use Parker out of the backfield, and to get quick-hitters and quick ins to Mike Williams, maybe they would have won this fairly important and very winnable game.

LOOKING AHEAD: They have a bye to figure out how Josh Freeman has regressed to 8 INTs in 7 games – after six total throughout 2010 – and how to stop the run again before they travel to the Superdome. The Saints just won 62-7 and will be headed to Missouri this week to beat up on another team with an injured defense, the Rams. Needless to say, the Bucs could gain a lot by beating the Saints on November 6th.
