Freeman still looking shaky; Parker showing consistency

Special Contribution by NFL Gridiron Gab Featured Author Adrian Mojia

The Bucs started out nicely, feeding the ball to Legarrette Blount whom was finding space. Blount finished with 72 yards but was quickly abandoned once the Bucs were down several scores. The Defense as a whole played horribly, failing to make initial tackles and allowing the Saints running backs to reach the second level on nearly every carry. They also killed themselves with crucial penalties offensively, stalling multiple drives and failing once again to find a rhythm in the pass game.

Preston Parker has continued to bail this team out with his special teams play and big third down catches, but the Bucs are as up and down as most teams have been in this division. While I wouldn’t hit the eject button on the Bucs yet, I need to see Freeman make better decisions and see him make better reads on the defense. He has looked nothing like the player we saw last season, though most QB’s are struggling this year.

The Bucs are still right in the middle of the divisional race but will need more explosive play calling if they are to make a serious run. They have also been miserable in the red zone, converting only 35% which is good for last place in the league.
