The Buccaneers have hired Ron Cooper to coach their defensive backs.
Cooper had been the defensive backs coach at LSU, a program that has produced cornerbacks Patrick Peterson, the fifth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, and Morris Claiborne, a potential Top 5 pick who could end up with the Buccaneers.
This will be the first NFL coaching stop for Cooper, who has coached as an assistant at South Carolina (2004-08), Mississippi State (2003), Wisconsin (2002), Notre Dame (1991-92), UNLV (1990), East Carolina (1989), Murray State (1987-88), Austin Peay (1985-86) and as a head coach at Eastern Michigan (1993-94), Louisville (1995-97) and Alabama A&M (1998-2001).
