Both the Dolphins and the Buccaneers have requested permission to interview Eagles VP of Player Personnel Tom Gamble for their GM vacancies according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.

No word yet on when the interviews might take place.

Gamble moved to the Eagles from the 49ers in February 2013 and began his NFL career in Philly in 1988 when his father was the team’s president.

He also worked for the Jets and Colts before making his way to San Francisco. Gamble interviewed for GM jobs last offseason without landing a job before heading the Philadelphia to work under General Manager Howie Roseman.

Neither GM job is considered to be top-notch despite talented player rosters due to their coaching situations.

New GMs prefer to hire their own head coach and staff but the new GM in Miami will inherit lame-duck coach Joe Philbin.

In Tampa Bay, the front office has already hired Lovie Smith as the new head coach and has given him a lot of control over personnel decisions.
