Brian Price To IR

In what will hopefully be a relatively insignificant roster move, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sending 2nd round draft pick DT Brian Price to injured reserve with a pelvic injury. His rookie stats will wind up being six tackles and three quarterback pressures. The Bucs, however, have gotten early returns with the Grimm and Williams picks and even the McCoy pick. Their other 2nd rounder, Arrelious Benn, made a big catch against Arizona as well.

The Buccaneers pass “rush”, pun intended, is the main reason so many people rank them below #15 and as low as #17 on their power rankings. They have just six sacks, tied with Cincinnati and Minnesota for dead last. But, if having a defensive line that allows people to run comfortably but applies enough pressure that teams have thrown 14 interceptions is a glaring weakness, how can you rank teams like the Seahawks or Raiders above them? The Seahawks cannot throw the ball, the Raiders have finally broken out of their 6 year offensive slump but I still think they are trotting out game managers (as opposed to a real deal like Josh Freeman.

Additionally, I think most offensive coordinators would rather play against the Raiders or Seahawks than the young Bucs defenders.
