The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free agent defensive end Nick Reed, Marc Lillibridge, Reed’s agent, announced on Twitter.
The Buccaneers had one spot open on their active roster, and three spots on their practice squad, after placing two players on injured reserve and promoting defensive tackle Frank Okam on Monday. Reed is not eligible for the practice squad, so he’ll be joining the 53-man roster.
More on Reed: A 2009 seventh-round pick out of Oregon by the Seattle Seahawks, Reed had 17 tackles and a quarterback sack in 16 games as a rookie, but was injured during the 2010 preseason and released. Reed made the Chicago Bears’ 53-man roster in 2011 and had six tackles in seven games before he was released on November 14.
